>go to the office to work 8h a day in front of a screen >come home and spend the remainder of your day in front of a screen as well Is this a mental illness?
The difference is that at work I am forced to look at that screen, even though I would rather go for a walk, do sports, etc. when the sun is still shining. I must give my employer the illusion that I am working, even though it would take me two hours max to do the work they give me. This has been the case in every job I ever had. At home I stare at the screen to keep my girlfriend under the impression that I am working, because otherwise the is getting on my nerves constantly. I can read books only in secret. Sometimes I take a walk between work and arriving home and say that I needed to do more hours.

What's your opinion on modern cityscapes: are they inhumane and soulless or do they provide an adequate mix of modern comfort and nature?

>>23344 So you say that you solely post here to shit on Börnd?! You know that's kinda mean?
>>23349 > Walking past hundreds if not thousands of people every day is very unnatural and makes you care less for other people since your brain needs to anonymise them You're right, but it's so much worse than that. Our minds weren't built to understand video images and distinguish them from reality. All monitors/screens we watch with images of people are 24/7 confusing our brains we're seeing real people. That chick you just wanked too? Your brain believed it was real. Imagine all the photos and videos we watch per day, inundating our brains with fake interactions of human beings that aren't really there. No one understands the seriousness of this.
>>23372 >No one understands the seriousness of this. Please elaborate.
>>23349 I really like how the Tokyo metropolitan government building looks like a European Cathedral. High appreciation for European civilisation and civics. >>>22894 Most greater Tokyo people live in mid rise housing, or indeed even two story houses, small LDK apartments as well, that are basically 20m2 motel room tier, but only 2-3 floors high blocks. It's not like Korea where the build retardedly highrises on the edge of a city but not so much in the centre. Japanese mid-high rises generally cluster around train stations. Also in much of greater kanto metropolis you are near patches rice fields or small nature filled parks at the very least. Japanese suburbs basically follow the train stations. So sometimes you get random patches of unbuilt farmland between two suburban train station
>>23400 Our brains are complex things built to react and process the environment through chemical/hormone reactions, plus all kinds of mental subconscious processes. When we see a person, an attractive female, a lion, a tall height from which we could fall, a friendly interaction, a possible competitor, an enemy. On and on. These processes are constantly being triggered by modern technology (video/audio devices). At the best case scenario this creates a huge numbing effect and at worst makes our brain/minds literally schizophrenic compared to our ancestors without access to this 24/7 simulation technology. It's even deeper than that but I'll stop.

Do you like all the hidden Internet References this Show has?

>>23281 I disagree and find it to be one of the few remaining watchable "adult" cartoons. Gonna watch s03e06 right now.
I recently watched a "Normies react to Smilling Friends" vid on YT. That made me realise that the show has different tiers of references. Which I think is quite clever to catch a bigger audience. References that "normal" normies get, like some political happenings, TV-Stuff etc Refs. that internet normies get, memes that circulate on twitter/reddit/insta, happenings around bigger content creators Refs for fans of the Smiling Friends creators and other internet animators surrounding them. Like OneyPlays and guests, Meaty Canyon, Tom Fulp in short all the Newgrounds spastics. And connected to that all the stuff those guys talked about (e.g. deeper Chris-Chan-lore, DSP etc.)

Oh to be 25 again to be invited to social cancer. In 10 years you'll wish you accepted.
Just stop having friends. It solves everything.
You are depressed. Don't kill yourself. Fix your life with good sleep, exercise and eating discipline.
Just go, you'll have more fun there than you expected. t. knower

>>23006 >why is the state collecting tithes on the churchs behalf? Historical reasons. Basically German dukes annexed and secularized a shitton of church possesions in the 19th century and instead of directly repaying the church, they decided to do it this way instead. Every once in a while Secularists get butthurt because of church tax and want to abolish it, however German constitutional law would make a very big one time payment to the churches necessary, which obviously is also something Secularists would very much like to avoid. >are the gonna collect for islam soon? It is a legal option (same as Islamic Religious Education on state schools for those who seek it), but the (dis-)organization of Islam in Germany gets in the way. To hold these rights, your church has to have a certain type of legal form and the according laws were designed with the two big German Christian churches in mind. Nowadays only a handful of religious communities check all the marks, and out of those a good amount doesn't make use of the right to get church tax collected by the state - even though in theory they could.

Did you know that there was a single German Communist who took part in the Long March with Mao Zedong, the Chinese Red Army and the Chinese Communist Party? Some of you might know him from Hoi4. He was a military advisor to the Chinese communists at the time. His name is Otto Braun.

>>22300 well, it was more from the point of view of simple peasants when China was pretty backwards, so they were totally overpowered and astonished the book itself is quite nice though: like magic realism with Chinese legends interwoven into the plot, and it follows it from the start of the 20th century through Mao's times, and then to capitalism

Thread to discuss/recommend new tv/streaming-shows. A few days ago Apple+ started the new series Pluribus. A show made by Vince Gilligan, the guy behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul and other stuff before. But what most people know of him is BB/BtcS. The female lead of BtcS, Rhea Seehorn is playing the main character here. The show was announced as sci-fi, dark comedy, psychological-thriller. Enough things to make me want to try it out. At least for me it looks disappointing. Biggest problem. HUGE problem, and I do really not understand why anyone thought this was a good idea, is that it is set in Albuquerque. Not only is it filmed in a way that it reminds you of Gilligan's other shows, it also has the same setting AND a main actress. So every other scene takes me out of the immersion by drawing unintentional comparisons and seeing places that look much too familiar. Second big problem is that this is the most softest type of sci-fi where only the general scenario to kick the story off has sci-fi elements, but then nothing else follows and it devolves into typical dramedy. I know there are only two episodes out yet, but I already know where this is going. And the scenario reminded me of an old short story by Bradbury, just done a little different, and of course worse. Third problem is the tone. I don't know what they are trying to achieve here. You have outright slapstick comedy in the background of a scene, while in the foreground the life partner of the main character tragically dies. And it already hints at more tonal conflicts that should and do not work. I am guessing it is supposed to give our main actress a stage to show off her range by having to deal with these conflicting emotions. Which leads to the fourth problem: Rhea Seehorn. I loved her in BtcS. I have not seen her in anything else. She was excellent as Kim. But here she doesn't have anyone to play off, because she is basically talking to zombies. There is a scene at the end of the first episode where she is alone with the camera and very obviously improvising her act, trying to portray her character as close to losing her mind and breaking out in tears. It is just plain bad. I wonder how many takes they made that this was the best they got. Either they rushed the production, or Seehorn is just not as good outside of playing Kim. I will give it another try when the next episodes drop. But I suspect I will cancel the show after those.

us People and Features You Find Attractive. Bernd 2025-10-20 14:01:07 No. 17077 Reply Last 50
What are some features you find attractive to you? Do certain people embody this features? Apart from my obvious rutiluphilia, I have a peculiar range of features I find attractive. Traditionally feminine features stir me most: soft and slight chins, full but regressed cheeks, bright eyes, soft jaws, full lips, et cetera. Rose Byrne and Rose McGowan are two who embody this fully. Rose Byrne has that lived-in warmth to her skintone whereas Rose McGowan has that flawless porcelain complexion. On the contrast, I also am very attracted to women with big chins. I've sung many praises to Gillian Anderson before with her sharp Anglo-Nordic beauty: her long skinny nose, patrician chin, dry wit and dopamine-laden laughter. Then, there's Jena Malone who captivated me after seeing Sucker Punch. The film is an absolute fever dream trashfire, but its spectacle and aesthetics lingered long after watching it. I would describe her appearance as unassuming and attainable. The sort of arty White girl you could chat up with whatever over coffee.

>>23097 It was a gradual process. I started posting on 4chan around 2007 and then it was a generally apolitical, if anything libertarian, nerd-punk kind of atmosphere. I was pretty confused when everyone started circlejerking about Ron Paul. Why would a bunch of rebellious internet outcasts suddenly start supporting the Republican party? About 10 years ago those kinds of politics reached their peak. It was just 24/7 schizopanic about immigrants and fawning over Orange Father. Now is still pretty bad, but I guess everyone grew up, became a bit more jaded. People still sneed endlessly about migration, but I don't see much Trump support any more etc.
It's not just imageboards either, everything has become more politically charged. But let's not pretend that this kind of stuff comes from the right exclusively. Everyone made fun of SJW's back in the day, and the SJW's have become "the establishment" in many aspects of nerd culture. Now you can't play some Bioware RPG without getting lectured on non-binary pronouns or watch the latest Tolkien adaptation without Sub-Saharan Elves. So some sort of pushback to that stuff is to be expected and natural.
>>23122 I think they overestimated what kind of support those types of politics have. Essentially it's just the new generation of religious moralists shouting at everyone to do the things that they consider socially proper. But irl everyone I know, both on the left and right, were finding it silly that every Netflix plot had a lesbian couple forced into it and etc
