I just can't leave this lil nigga, the alternatives just suck in one way or another
>>23611 so we've listed > google > google pet > crackhead indi do we have other options? inb4 w3m
>>23614 Why is uBlock Lite not a proper adblocker?
>>23610 Reddit overdose comics. And how good was the world beforez when customer support wasn't half India and half Philippines...
>>23615 Internet Explorer 11
>>23621 Oh and safari.
>>23605 What’s so bad about Windows?
>>23610 >expert girl programmer lol that particular nerd fantasy
>>23615 Servo could become an option, but it's still early in development and if it will ever be a serious contender, is entirely up to funding and seems pretty unlikely sadly. When Mozilla runs out of money, Google will be the only option left and I would really not want to see that.
You know what I love about Firefox the most? The built in screenshot tool, it's just so damn good and no other browser has it.
>>23616 It’s even in the name. According to a list from plebbit >Filter lists update only when the extension updates (no fetching up to date lists from servers) >Many filters are dropped at conversion time due to MV3's limited filter syntax >No crafting your own filters (thus no element picker) >No strict-blocked pages >No per-site switches >No dynamic filtering >No importing external lists If that’s still true, that’s a hard nope from me.
>>23654 >If that’s still true, that’s a hard nope from me. Why don't you try it out yourself instead of trusting Reddit?
>>23654 No element picker? How will I be able to block these ultra aggressive ads in porn sites that always appear in spite of me using unblock?? Can't a man goon in piece inside the chromium golden cage?
>>23657 Stop watching that trash.
>>23630 it has gone so bad, that u can start with performance and stop there. no need to even mention privacy.
>>23611 >M-m-m-muh income I have real uBlock while googlecucks are castrated. Sorry, googlefag, but FF wins again.
>>23656 Because I'm not infesting my PC with chrome. I know it's hard for googlefags to understand, but free people simply do not want to see your overlord's shitty ads, hence they use FF that had a real uBlock.
>>23665 Yeah, absolutely. I need to use Windows 11 at work and it's extremely sluggish and sometimes the search just breaks and I need to reboot to be able to search again. When I installed Windows Terminal and tried to start it, it just times out and throws an error. There is also the new right click menu, which is just garbage and the options you want are always hidden and you always need to open it with shift right click. You can probably change it somewhere, but why is this a thing in the first place? Is there even a thing that got better with Windows 11? >>23672 What will Mozilla do, if the money from Google stops? Do you want to pay 10€ monthly for a browser?
>>23674 What if grandma had a dick?
>>23676 Not caring about future possibilities is pretty dumb, but you do you.

>Good old Firefox. People give it a bad press but I’m never switching, why would I? Feels like a good pair of jeans.
>>23678 So people should start doing worse things now because in the future they might have to if thing x happens? Why don't you eat shit now because in the future you might have nothing else to eat?
>>23678 Using castrated googleshit instead of a real browser like FF is what's "pretty dumb".
>>23680 Why do you think I imply, that people should start to do worse things? It's more in the line, that, if you want to preserve Firefox, you should do something like donating for example instead of being smug about the fact, that it still exists and you still have the benefit of blocking pretty much any ads, which is not helping to preserve it. >>23681 Yeah, whatever mate.
>>23683 I'm not your "mate", triggered googlefag. You might not realise this, but you all sound the same, every fucking time. >Why do you think I imply, that people should start to do worse things? Because you advised a Bernd to infest his PC with googleshit right here: >>23656 Googlefags are always painfully obvious, and equally painfully oblivious to how obvious they are.
I'm legit asshurt that the modern browser space has been dead and uncompetitive since 2015.
>>23695 Same. Back in 2011 or whatever I actually liked Chrome before it turned into the malware garbage it is today. Should have predicted Google would do this (enshitification). That said I like Thorium if I'm using windows (chromium based) and actually use Safari on Mac
>>23685 Your detector is pretty broken then. I'm neither that Bernd nor do I use Chromium based browsers and I certainly do not advocate for them.
>>23697 >look at IE use and notice how change averse everyone is about their choice of browser >use massive corporate advertising power + android to force people over to considering chrome as that particular browser instead >once everyone's using chrome and resistant to changing to anything else, slowly kill adblockers idk if this was their idea from the start, but seems like a smart strategy. I remember wondering back then what Google has to gain by releasing another open source browser.
I use Firefox too. It works fine and does everything I want it too. I can't think of a reason to look for something else.
>>23674 >I need to use Windows 11 at work Do you have admin rights? If yes I'll tell you how to fix all those issues >>23695 Same. Member the old Opera with the Presto engine and tab grouping etc already in 2010?
Every browser is trying to be an OS inside an OS now with all this sidebar nonsense and AI and dynamic tabs or whatever. Opera, Brave, Edge and Vivaldi are the worst culprits. Why can't they just make a normal browser? I want to open websites quickly, bookmark things and have some extensions. That's it. Why does everything need to be so anti-human nowadays?
>>23751 NTB but I'm curious as well. I hate windows 11 on my work PC. It's so sluggish and unresponsive and the fan is always super loud even when I'm doing some light work. The power profile is already set to "quiet".
>>23754 brave is fine IMO annoying how it keeps unloading tabs though but my pc sux D
>>23754 The concept of a browser in itself is pretty stupid. One positive thing at least about phones is that they're moving away from this OS in an OS concept and relying more on native window libraries and etc
>>23759 Sure but you'll need Admin rights >it's extremely sluggish Use Chris Titus tool to set services to "manual" >the search just breaks Disable Windows search in services.msc Use voidtool's Everything instead >There is also the new right click menu Nilesoft Shell fixes that But enough about that, threda is about Firefox. I noticed some huge memory usage with it a while ago, if you set "accessibility.force_disabled" to 1 in about:config this problem goes away.
>>23751 I have to request admin rights every time I need them and need to give a reason. Can't install not approved software. There is not much I can do to improve anything. Security is pretty tight. >>23774 >I noticed some huge memory usage with it a while ago, if you set "accessibility.force_disabled" to 1 in about:config this problem goes away. It's some kind of memory leak. When starting, it's pretty reasonable, but it keeps growing over time even, if you just use a few tabs. I will try that option. >>23754 I think it's because all this web shit has grown to be completely bloated with framework upon framework and webpages have basically become entire applications. I'm not really an expert in web development, but that's my impression.
>>23774 Yeah thanks, but I'm not running some random scripts with administrator privileges on my work PC. That's exactly how windows breaks.
>>23791 It really helped for me. What you can do too is set browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground to true, that's basically the memory save feature on Chromium based browsers >>23794 Suit yourself. So just check and disable the services that are safe to disable manually one by one, because Win11 won't get any faster with 200 background services running no matter what you do.
>>23791 there should be a ~public/self hosted script u can run after every update to disable unwanted services again. alternatively you can write one yourself. prolly no need to do it manually every single time like >>23799 suggested. I pretty much stopped using windows since a few years. I sometimes use Windows XP at work to edit CNC-code with the old build-in text editor and rarely have to do some administration and tech-support for our office; typical underpaid production worker :D Säge because off-topic
>>23657 Just goon on Reddit, no need for an Adblocker there
>>23450 Did you also notice how shit the YouTube search has become
>>23657 It's not true btw, uBlock Lite has an element picker (it's the setting besides the lightning bolt)
neither librewolf nor firefox is slow, upgrade your toaster
>>23882 It seems you have never used any other browser, if you do so, you'll realize how slow Firefox based browsers are.
>>23885 That's because many don't optimize their website for a browser with 5℅ market share. In synthetic benchmarks Firefox is quite on par depending on the task.
>>23741 > if this was their idea from the start, but seems like a smart strategy. It's the strategy of monopoly power and enshitification. 1) Gain monopoly power through whatever means (even at a loss of $) then 2) once its attained, slowly strangle your customers and clients through your monopoly power (enshitify)
I'm using one of the superior forks
>>23890 Yeah, but I care about real life performance, benchmarks mean nothing to me
>>23751 Old opera was fantastic and provided a good competitor to firefox. Now its a has been and should never be suggested as it provides not genuine relief from what can be done by any other browser. I'm glad there's servo and verso at least in the mix but for fuck's sakes there's really nothing outside of these options to compete or remove the software rot that's prevalent in blink or gecko.
>>23882 >its your toasters fault That's a huge red flag that developers really don't give a fuck about optimizing their software of useless features that nobody besides a handful of massive prolapse puckering faggots use and some out of touch insulated suits deem necessary when the what the internet needs is better efficiency and less reliance on javascript and these stupid assfuck designs that serve to only feed ads and generate money against the smooth user experience that used to be top priority but is now unknown.
